During our tests, we observed that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to get rid of the majority of hair on floors that were not bare and a good amount of rug with a medium pile. It was a little less effective on shag carpets which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of chairs, small spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on bare flooring however, it was able to recover speed and performed better than other robots that we test.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge, and is more capable of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky messes. The iRobot, however, is better constructed and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs less ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones with its companion application. It can even resume the cleaning process from where it left off in case it has run out of battery before finishing the job.
